Yonder Bound is a boutique bindery operation born in Indianapolis, Indiana. We believe in the tactile experience of analog media, that using and holding a book is better than an electronic device or a slick app. Our books are handmade small and strong and are meant to be carried with you into the garden, into the woods, into the workshop, into the restaurants, or wherever the trail of life takes you, to record your plans, experiences and memories.
Our logbooks are created with the user in mind. That's why we partnered up with local experts in the field who have given of their knowledge and experience to help us create a line of logbooks that are truly useful and intuitive. We believe that through these special partnerships we are not only creating unique and appealing products, but also supporting the local, passionate businesses that make our community stronger.
The duo behind Yonder Bound is designers and makers Chelsea van der Meer and Eric Stine.
Chelsea's background in fine art and graphic design led her into bookbinding through an apprenticeship with one of the country's oldest operating binderies. She trained extensively under master bookbinders that taught her traditional techniques that she now translates into making books with a contemporary appeal. Chelsea has also coordinated and taught bookmaking classes throughout the city. Her personal artwork has been featured in articles and sold worldwide.
Eric Stine is a visual mixed media artist, screen printer, and graphic designer. His work has been shown in public galleries and exhibitions throughout Indianapolis. He is the lead designer and creative director for Lodge Design Company and he partners with New York-based filmmaker Ryan Balas to form RottoBella, a media collaboration project that works with musician, writers, and visual artists throughout the country.
In addition to making books, Eric and Chelsea also love exploring the nooks and crannies of the city's lost and forgotten abandoned buildings.
